Catching up with Oreos

Okay, so I bet you are all wondering what happened to me. Or Maybe not, maybe nobody reads this anyways, but just in case, let me tell you what I've been up to. Well The last time I posted was last spring I believe, then all summer I worked day and night at our families campground. In fall, there was a combination of resettling into a routine and catching up on things. We then had a glorified Christmas break for about two weeks, and now this January I have been making plans to go to England for 5 months starting in April. Sounds fun right? Here is the website to where and what I'll be doing, if you care.

Anyways, I've really been wanting to blog on here the last couple days, so I thought why not? Here are some yummy cookies I made my family the other day.

Yeah, they are Oreo knock offs, and quite delicious as well as very fast and easy to make.

Oreo Cookies

2 Pkg. Devils food Cake Mix
4 Eggs
1 Cup Vegetable Oil
2 Tbsp. Water

Mix all ingredients together, and bake at 350 degrees ferinheight for 7-9 minutes. Tops will crack when done.

Filling

8 oz. Cream Cheese
1/2 Cup Butter
4 Cups Icing Sugar
1 Tsp. Vanilla

Mix all together, and spread between two cookies.

I told you it was easy, now didn't I? The recipe days it makes six dozen, but I made half a batch and it only made about one and a half dozen, so i imagine it varies depending on how big you make them.

A Bubblegum Birthday

Sorry I've neglected my blog for so long. I've been working LOTS and just haven't gotten the time. Oh well, I'm blogging right now, aren't I? I wanted to share a little bit of card making inspiration with you today. I often find it hard to make birthday cards for boys. You can't use flowers, glitter, or rhinestones, and your choice of colors are very limited. Well just the other day I made this darling card....
It's was perfect! I like that it's very easy to make, but doesn't look slapped together. But the best part is that there is no doubt that it's a boy's card. Anyways, I just thought I'd share that with you. Take care, I hope to be blogging more soon!

The Last Edition of Treat Tuesday

I am sorry to announce our last edition of Treat Tuesday. My family owns and RV park and campground, so I'm starting to get pretty busy with that and I'm not sure how much baking and treat making I'll be doing over the next few months. I'll still be blogging, just not making as many treats. With that in mind I hope you enjoy our last Treat Tuesday.

I'm not really sure what to call these cookies. The recipe I used called them Melanie's Chocolate Chip Cookies because the recipe is from one of my mom's old friends named Melanie. Now I thought about just calling them Chocolate Chip Cookies, but I thought that sounded too boring. The recipe has 1 tsp. of almond flavoring so I also thought about calling them Almond Chocolate Chip Cookies, but they don't taste enough like almonds. So In conclusion I decided that I'd give you the recipe, you could make them and then create your own name. One thing I can assure you of though, is that they are good, really good. I mean like really really good. So without further ado here is the recipe:

1 Cup Butter
1 1/2 Cup Brown Sugar
1 tsp. Vanilla
1 tsp. Almond Flavoring
2 Eggs
2 1/2 Cups Flour (I used freshly ground whole wheat)
1 tsp. Baking Soda
1 tsp. Salt
1-1 1/2 Cups Chocolate Chips

Cream the first 5 ingredients together. Next, add the dry ingredients and mix well. Finally stir in the chocolate chips. Bake at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for 8-10 minutes.

Note: If you use fresh farm eggs you'll need to use up to 3 Cups of flour, depending on there size.
